2024 - 2025
 

  • Raji attended ARVO Advocacy Day 2024 in Washington D.C. She met with staffers of Senator Mike Braun and Senator Todd Young to explain the importance of vision research funding. 

  • Sachin passed his qualifying exam! He is the latest Ph.D. candidate in the lab!

  • Raji received the Dean’s Alumni Award: College of Science, Health & Pharmacy from her alma mater, Roosevelt University (April 2024). Read the story here

  • The first paper from the lab is now published in IOVS!

  • Subashree presented a talk at the Corneal endothelium session at ARVO 2024! Viviane presented a poster! We had a lot of fun Seattle!

  • Subashree received the prestigious Mike Ezell fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry! See the official announcement from the Academy here

  • Sachin received a grant in aid of research from Sigma Xi! See the list of recipients here 

  • The lab received Core Pilot Funding from Indiana CTSI!

  • Raji was selected to be an Emerging Vision Scientist by the Alliance for Eye and Vision Research (AEVR). She attended the Congressional reception and met with Indiana Senators (Sen. Mike Braun and Sen. Todd Young)

First year (2023-2024)
 

  • Lab officially opened on January 1st! Raji has an office!

  • Raji spoke at the ARVO ADVANCE Conference on navigating the academic job market (Feb 2023)

  • Viviane Campos joins the lab as the first post-doc (Feb 2023).

  • Raji contributed to a review paper that was accepted in Autophagy Reports (Mar 2023)

  • Raji (along with three other co-editors) completed the special issue on Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology. An editorial was published in June 2023

  • Matthew presents his poster at the Department of Biology retreat (June 2023)

  • The lab receives pilot funding from the Indiana University Faculty Research support program to work on Dry Eye Disease with Dr. Anna Tichenor (June 2023)

  • Subashree wins best presentation award at Heartland Vision Research Symposium (Aug 2023)

  • Viviane received a travel grant to attend AOPT conference in Indianapolis (Aug 2023)

  • Raji spoke at AOPT conference on Protein Clearance Pathways in FECD (Aug 2023)

  • Subashree presented her work at American Academy of Optometry Meeting in New Orleans (Oct 2023)

  • First pre-print from the lab is now on BioRxiv! Subashree's first original research paper (Oct 2023)!!

  • Raji gave a guest lecture at Dr. Shroff Charity Eye Hospital in New Delhi and a key note address at OptoExcellence (Dec 2023).
